The grapes used to make Château La Braulterie de Peyraud are mainly grown on the estate’s southern slopes. They benefit from the warmth provided by the gravelly soil, underlain by a layer of clay subsoil. To obtain perfectly ripe grapes and ideal concentration, we make sure the bunches are not too compact, we protect them from diseases and we monitor them on a daily basis in the weeks leading up to the harvest.
Château La Braulterie de Peyraud is a fine example of the art of blending, a centuries-old tradition in Bordeaux. This well-balanced wine draws on Merlot (75%) to provide fine-grained tannins and gets its firm structure from the addition of Cabernet-Sauvignon (25%). Following traditional Bordeaux vinification methods, maceration can last up to 21 days. Aged in barrels (from 3 to 5 wines) for 1 year, this wine displays subtle wood notes and a beautiful aromatic complexity. Finally, we bottle the wine ourselves at the château.
Like other fine wines from the “Côtes” appelations, this vintage will delight lovers of Bordeaux wines who enjoy fruitiness, structure and smoothness.
